New York

I'm gonna make it by any means, I got a pocket full of dreams
Baby, I'm from New York
Concrete jungle where dreams are made of
There's nothing you can't do
Now you're in New York

A few years ago I had a chance to travel around the United States of America. New York made the greatest impression on me. It was both positive and negative at the same time.
New York is really like nowhere else in the world. No wonder it is so famous and popular. This city has something for everyone. Here you can find everything you need for any age group, for any budget, and for any interest and whim. It turned out New York is not as expensive as I thought. It's very easy to walk around, many sights have free entry. Food is rather cheap, especially street food, which is super delicious, by the way. You can't get enough of it!
New York is inhabited by people from all the countries in the world. Almost everyone here is migrant that settled in the Big Apple generations ago. Here no one cares who you are, how you look, what you do, and what lifestyle you live. This is a great advantage. I know what I'm saying because I grew up in a small town where everyone knows each other. Sometimes privacy is a great luxury. Everyone can find his own corner in New York. Like all Americans, New Yorkers are nice and sympathetic. Therefore if you need any help, people will always be there for you. I admire New York for that. I was sitting on the bench in Central Park when a guy next to me just struck up a conversation with me and asked me a million questions about my homeland.
I wanted to see a panoramic view of the city coming alive at night. So I went to the Empire State Building. The view from the 102nd-floor observation deck was breathtaking. I relished this top-of-the-world feeling while I was looking down on other skyscrapers. The Empire State Building was once the tallest building in the world that made it very famous among the tourists all around the world. No wonder! The 1200 feet high deck provides a fascinating panoramic view of the city.
New York is the only place where I saw more people out on the streets in the night than in the day. The crowd density was pretty much the same as during the afternoon, maybe even higher. I even saw mothers pushing their kids in strollers after midnight. New York never sleeps. All entertainment is available non-stop. Even shopping.
I saw New York in many different movies. One of the most famous is ‘Sex and the City'. I bet you've seen it. New York is a capital of world fashion and big business. This city is always shown as glamorous and fancy. It sure is when you look up. All those shining skyscrapers that seem to reach the sky are fascinating. But when you look down, you see dirty streets. Even Times Square is very dirty. The air smells like a sewer. It is humid, cramped and smelly. I saw some people sleeping right on the street. I was shocked and very disappointed when I saw the New York Subway. To be honest I couldn't imagine such a great and modern city to have a subway in such terrible condition.
New York is a melting pot of people with all kinds of interests. Here connoisseurs of cuisine, architecture and art, and lovers of parties and shopping will find everything they need. The Big Apple is well worth a visit. This city should be in everyone's must visit list… But there's one repelling feature that makes me not want to stay here. It's too loud, too crowded and too dirty.
