How to address questions in English

Dear friends, I can imagine how difficult it is to start learning English, and moreover, to start communication with a foreigner in his native language.
Друзья, можно себе представить, как сложно прийти к изучению английского языка, и уж тем более, к общению с иностранцем на его родном языке.

But you shouldn't be afraid of asking questions in English in order to get some necessary information.
Но вы не должны бояться задавать вопросы на английском языке, поскольку только так вы сможете получить необходимую информацию.

Just try to remember several key phrases and sentences, and you will communicate in any situation without troubles!
Просто попробуйте запомнить несколько ключевых фраз, и вы сможете общаться в любой ситуации без проблем!

The following phrases and sentences will help you to ask correctly for necessary information or for a favor in a lot of different situations – on the street, in a hotel, at a railway station, etc.
Следующие фразы и предложения помогут вам правильно сформулировать ваш вопрос или просьбу во многих разных ситуациях, например, на улице, в отеле, на вокзале и т.д.

... Do you know if…?
... Не знаете ли вы…?

Do you know if there is any coffee-machine at this railway station?
Do you know where I can get medical help near here?

... Do you have…? or…Have you got…?
... Есть ли у вас…?

Do you have any pen or pencil?
Have you got a map of the city?

... Do you accept... (credit cards)?
... Принимаете ли вы… (кредитные карточки)?

Do you accept the Euro or the Dollar?

When you want to ask the way, this is a good phrase to use.
Если вы хотите спросить о направлении, это можно сделать так:

... Is this the right way for…. (the Post Office)?
... Правильно ли я иду к… (почтовому отделению)?

Is this the right way for a train station?

... Could you tell me if there's…(a Bank near here)?
... Не могли бы вы подсказать, есть ли… (банк неподалеку)?

Could you tell me if there is a grocery store near here?

If you want to sound polite, you should say "еxcuse me" to draw attention to yourself, and then ask questions.
Чтобы звучать вежливо, перед вопросом нужно сказать"excuse me", то есть, извините, чтобы обратить внимание на себя.

And remember to say "thank you" after getting what you wanted.
И не забывайте говорить "thank you", то есть, спасибо, после оказанной вам услуги.

And now let's see how we can use these phrases in a conversation.
А теперь давайте послушаем, как выученные фразы могут использоваться в разговоре.

For example:

- Excuse me, is this the right way for the railway station?
- Oh, yeah. It's in 10 minutes walk along this street.
- Thank you.

- Excuse me, could you tell me if there are any ticket windows at this station?
- Yes, there are.
- Great. Do you know if I can buy tickets to London there?
- Of course. Please, let me show you the way.

Good morning. Do you have two tickets to London for today?
- Yes, we do! 100 pounds, please.
- Do you accept credit cards?
- Yes, we do
- Thank you!

I wish you luck in starting any conversation with any foreigner!
Я желаю вам удачи в первых разговорах с иностранцами!
